SFS-490 Series High-Speed Stopped-Flow Systems for J-815

The innovative design of the JASCO SFS-490 Series Stopped-flow systems offer many advantages over previous integrated systems. A compact, modular approach introduces a level of system flexibility unknown in the past allowing the user to select from two, three, and four syringe designs and change the configuration at any time to meet any experimental demands.

High efficiency mixer
A key component of the new design is the innovative high-efficiency mixer. Mixing efficiency is critical when working with viscous reagents such as Urea for protein folding experiments. This mixer features exceptionally fast mixing compared to 4-jet or Berger ball mixers while keeping sample dead volume to an absolute minimum.

Independent control of each syringe
Independent stepper-motor control of each syringe allows infinitely variable mixing ratios and easily exchangeable syringes allow the system to be optimized for any experiment. Flow rates are accurate and reproducible.

Peltier temperature control
As kinetics can vary as a function of temperature, Peltier temperature control is available for both the syringe drive and cell units. These can also be independently controlled.

Easy to use, modular design
The modular design allows the cell unit to be easily installed and removed from the standard sample compartment without alignment. Switching between steady-state and stopped-flow measurement modes has never been so easy. Experiments can be run in two, three, or four syringe mode and the same syringe drive units can be used with the JASCO FP-6500 Spectrofluorometer.

Artifact-free cell
Finally, a cell designed specifically for the special demands of CD is available in a stopped-flow system. The strain-free window design shows minimum birefringence resulting in a flat baseline over the entire spectral range.
